弟の消防操法大会 My brother's Fire Procedure Competition
My brother has been involved with local fire volunteers in my hometown. Ever since he was back from Nagoya-city, he has been in it, probably 10 years by now.
There is a fire procedure competition in June every year. If your team gets the 1st place, the team goes to the bigger competition. This year he was a commander and his team got the 1st place!!!
Every member comes to the practice after work. Especially before the competition they practice every night from 7pm-midnight (sometimes they drink after the practice) for about a month. If you are married, ohhh you would be in trouble with wife...
I am proud of him and his team members. They are good people.
The judges see of course if members do the right operation in an excellent technic and time but also how they stand and move since it is very diciplinary.
Here is my father. He was in it when he was younger. And before he retired, he was in charge of our county fire department so he knows what it is.
Here is some pictures of his team. My bother is wearing a tag for commander in Japanese

I'm very proud of your brother, also. I know that competition was very difficult. Good luck in the bigger competition!

Why do the firemen have the woads in english instead of Japanese,
Congratulations to your brother and the members of his crew.

Walt,
Also that shirt is not an official uniform. it is just for a team thing.

Ikue,
Congratulations on your brothers accomplishments. I bet you and your entire family are very proud of him and his accomplishments. It takes a special person to be a fire fighter.
I was going to ask the "english words" question also. Glad I wasn't the only one to notice.
Have a great day!

Danny,
Thank you!
I don't think they understand how the english words can be questioned. We use a lot of them and we listen to foreign songs too. I think we sometimes like something not too obvious or too direct. Do you know what I mean by that?

I forgot to mention that in the first pictures, over the trucks, gray looking things are graves. That is a cemetary. Ours do not look happy and beautiful. Very simple and supposed to be a scary place.

Thank you Ikue for sharing your pictures with us. I know you are proud of your brother. I would love to see the competition as I have never heard of this before. Volunteer firefighters have a special talent and giving spirit to save homes and lives. Hopefully your brother will win the next level of competition too!
